DeviceInfo 2 Widget

DailyDilbert – the online comic reading widget for Nokia N97, 5800 etc.
DeviceInfo widget for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the N97 is the first widget release by moubail.com. The widget is based on script samples found at Forum Nokia Wiki. The widget is pure HTML/CSS/Javascript and is released as an example to motivate other users to create a widget of their own. What does it do then? The DeviceInfo widget displays more or less essential data about the device it’s running on. It’s a handy way to digg up the phone’s IMEI code, wireless MAC address and the current firmware version. This release is BETA and has been tested only the Nokia 5800. There is an update system built-in meaning you should be able to update it easily to a newer version – should we ever make one. Post your ideas and wishes or get in touch through the Feedback -page. If you have a widget you would like to publish or need some graphics work done on it or anything like that – moubail.com might be able to help.

Love the widget, any chance you could update it so that I dont get the security warning everytime it starts up. Thanks !!
If I only could. The security warning has to do with using the system info in the widget. Sorry to say this but the warning can’t be removed as it comes from the OS and not the widget :/ and is a security measure put in place by Nokia. Maybe they drop it in the coming firmwares but until then we are stuck with it.

Looks nice this widget
Why doesn’t anybody design a widget for the tv-program? Wouldn’t it be nice to look at your phone and know what goes on in tv this evening?
Best regards
Mike
Glad you like it! A TV-program widget would be cool. Main problem is that it would need a server that serves the program info. And then there are different countries with countless TV-channels and so on. Would be pretty difficult to make one that works for everyone. Good idea though!
Hi,
Firstly, thank you very much for developing this widget.
Would like to suggest an added feature if possible, perhaps battery status can be shown as well? Maybe the status of the battery can be shown in terms of percentage left. Right now, the only indicator for the battery is the icon with bars. If the battery status can be shown in percentage, we will be able to know more accurately how much battery life that we have left.
Glad you like the widget. I’ll take a look what kind of data it is possible to get from the battery. If what you described in your wish is possible then I will surely add it to the widget. Also coming is a graphical display of memory data – could be handy for some people. Nokia may add more features to the API later on so there may also come so other upgrades later on.
I’ve made a german tv-program – widget
Maybe you wanna have a look at it?

Hi!
Excuse-me, but how could I put it on the homescreen of my Nokia N97?
I cannot do it..
Unfortunately the DeviceInfo doesn’t have support for the N97 homescreen. I’m thinking about adding it in the next version though
It will take some time though because I don’t have the N97 myself

good application!! thank!!!
Hey
great widget something i really need, would it be possible to incorporate a battery % left or something.
for me it opens and says loading forever in each item
Did you give the widget a permission to access phone data on start up? That’s what it asks for when it opens. Also what firmware are you using?

Mine also opens and loads indefinitely….it does ask me for permission to access phone data when it opens however nothing happens…just loading….. N97…purchased my N97 directly from Nokia in Beijing….
I wish everyone with problems (two people so far
) would post their firmware versions as well. Nothing has been changed in the widget so it must be something in the firmware.

Hi,
I am defintely going to install this widget. Look awesom in the YouTube clip.
I have one remark, you state that toggling BlueTooth can’t be done. I am not a programmer, but in Epocware’s Handy Shell application they have this option in the phone indicator/settings plugin. Maybe you could look into this? It would be very nice to have this as a widget on the home screen on my N97.
Very kind regards,
MacLeod
Hmm… which Youtube clip would that be? The BT thing is a problem because widgets are dependent on the API that allows the widgets access to some of the phone’s features and unfortunately the ability to toggle BT on/off is not included. It certainly can be done with native symbian or java apps but not yet with widgets. Homescreen support is planned for the N97 but I can’t give you a date yet.
Sorry, I was wrong about the YouTube clip, that was for nUnlock. Nevertheless, thank you for your quick reply. Hope someone is able to create some app for BT toggle from the home screen, because it now takes too much ‘clicks’ to get there.
Keep up the good work!
Very kind regards,
MacLeod
thanks for this works nice maybe could add the freguency of the prossecor and the persentage of his work(ofcource if it can be done)
How do you disable the security warning when opening the widget? It is really annoying to push it away on 5800XM every time I click on the widget…
“How do you disable the security warning when opening the widget?”
would be interested in that, too
(if possible)
I have a problem: After an installation software of works more. I have make several installation, always the same problem. And now I have an icone device information in the menu application which I cannot delete: Corrupt Link
I have a n97 V12.
Can you help me ?
great app, v nice and clean
- only problem is, AS Gabb above, N97 v12 doesn’t like it!

I guess I must have missed something totally, but I can’t even find where to download it!
I click the “download via ovi” link, and I get taken to a nokia page about the ovi suite. I already have it thanks! I try searching for the app direct from ovi on my n97, nothing found
Oh hang on… It’s below the nUnlock advert, I stopped scrolling at that point cos I thought I was onto the next blog entry!

It looks very pretty on the N95 (and the “Update” .js seems to work) but the individual sections all say “Loading…”
Would have been cool if it worked on the N95 as it does with the N97 (opened the index.html with “File Manager”, also tried “X-plore”), it loads but can not grab the data.
nooooo
FUTURE IDEAS
* Toggle bluetooth (if possible with the API) (can’t be done)

Many thanks works fine on Nokia N97 with v20 software.
Requests:
Could Security warning be removed on startup
Could DeviceInfo support Home screen so it’s a real widget
Could Memory status not flash (or allow toggle on/off)

[...] Moubail has been pumping super cool widgets for Symbian^1 devices for a while now. Amongst the best is their iSearch widget which lets you search almost the entire web in a click, but the winner in our eyes is DeviceInfo. As its name suggests, DeviceInfo shows you all the information you may want to know about your handset in one graphically pleasing layout. Amongst the information it shows, is the available RAM, free & used memory on the C and E drives (internal memory and memory card), Battery level, IMEI, Firmware version, bluetooth and vibration status, autolock and screensaver timeout, and more. Basically, it replaces some 3rd-party programs, some built-in information, and some hidden codes like *#06#, all in one incredibly convenient form. Get it here. [...]

A little more info about the problem would be helpful.
I’ve have an prob with this tool on my Nokia 5530 (s60v5) and FW 20.0.080.
