DeviceInfo 2 Widget
DailyDilbert – the online comic reading widget for Nokia N97, 5800 etc.
DeviceInfo widget for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the N97 is the first widget release by moubail.com. The widget is based on script samples found at Forum Nokia Wiki. The widget is pure HTML/CSS/Javascript and is released as an example to motivate other users to create a widget of their own. What does it do then? The DeviceInfo widget displays more or less essential data about the device it’s running on. It’s a handy way to digg up the phone’s IMEI code, wireless MAC address and the current firmware version. This release is BETA and has been tested only the Nokia 5800. There is an update system built-in meaning you should be able to update it easily to a newer version – should we ever make one. Post your ideas and wishes or get in touch through the Feedback -page. If you have a widget you would like to publish or need some graphics work done on it or anything like that – moubail.com might be able to help.

You can
- Download the widget straight to your phone and install it when prompted
- Download the widget to your computer and email it to your phone
- Install it by using the Ovi Suite

thank a lot for this widget..
but after i update my 5800 with latest fw which is v40..
the status keep blinking while the number changing..
and i agree with Richard Wood
if you can removed the security warning..it would be nice..
Yeah. The latest firmware versions are messed up
I’ll try to see if there’s a workaround for the blinking. As for the security warning – that can not be helped. It comes from the Nokia’s API whenever something in a widget wants to access the system info/data.

NICE LITTLE WIDGET!
Works great on my Sony Ericsson Satio…
I can install this on the N82. However, it cannot operate normally and nothing was displayed on the screen. I guess it is software incompatibility.
Can you please also add a roaming status to this? i.e. whether the phone is currently registered on the home network or a roaming network?
After installing, when i try to run it, it gives an error that “system Service object cannot be found” and then does not load any data. I tried it on a n97 mini
After install on my Nokia 5800 XM with 40.0.005 firmware i can’t use Installed App.
I tried to delete the folder 10282822\com.moubail.deviceinfo.widget\DeviceInfo\index.html under e:\private but still not work!!! Any solution?
Any chance there could be a version of the widget that is signed so I dont have the security pop-up every time I use it.

Doesn’t work on N97 mini. Same problem with system service object not found. Does anyone know of a similar utility?
This may be a dumb question but when you start the widget and the security pop up comes up – what do you answer? Yes or no? You must answer “Yes” in order for the widget to work. If it still doesn’t work then there is something wrong your firmware. The widget works fine on my N97 mini and the 5800 – both with the latest firmware.
Maybe it can help you to know the widget stopped working with “System Service object cannot be found” message after I made the following:

I left a comment but don’t see it here. In it I said I’d leave a donation after payday and then I realized how dumb it is to say that when using a credit card. So I just donated a couple Euro. I really have no idea what to fix! I’ve just gotten myself an N98 Mini with the latest firmware and it gives not such errors. Have you downloaded the version from Moubail.com? If not then please do so. One of the reasons I’m trying to prevent other sites from hosting my widgets is that they can be easily modified. So when you download the widgets from here you know they are safe.
But as said – I’m not able produce the error people are reporting. It is working perfectly on my Nokia 5800 and N97 Mini.
I’m in Brazil and Ovi Store says that the item is not available for my country.
How can I download it?

Well that’s because it isn’t in the Ovi Store. You can download all my apps from this here. Just go on the applications page look for the title “Download” in a gray box on the bottom of the page – there is a link to the file right there.

or how can I increase it?…a SD card must be used for that?
and, in this case, how configure the SD for RAM on N97 ..?

It’s not tested on the Vivaz – probably won’t work. I believe the API for the system data is Nokia specific. Sorry :/
Since 3 days I also receive this “System Service object cannot be found” Script alert. Don’t think this is a deviceinfo problem because since this day my comingnext widget doesn’t work either. There “the calendar services cannot be loaded”.
Don’t know what to to; Nokia cannot help… :-/

The day before everything worked; the next day the widgets are in a mess!

I have no idea but exactly the same problem with deviceinfo and comingnext on my N97! Wonder if it has anything to do with the firmware (21.0.102.251.01 from 25-02-2010)

after a excellent reply on my query for a memory info app I was referred to deviceinfo. I inlcuded the link to this page and hopefully generate some traffic. Btw it’s a great app and should be included in the basic standard set on the N97 mini imo.

Hi.. I have the same problem… this widget used to work on my old Nokia 5800.. Now I have n97 mini.. and it doesn’t work anymore.. “system Service object cannot be found”..
After the latest firmware update it doesn’t work anymore on N97. The home widget show just a black and empty bar.

I am a brand new Nokia n900 user from india, i will need some aid from ur all, how can i use skype in my telephone wherever it can be not displaying the pre installed application. though i m not in a position to use aMSN in my cell phone whn ever i m installing it, it saying unable to install as some installer files are missing please inform how can i use yahoo voice and video calls and msn voice and movie calls and most significant skype.

Hi, just downloaded to my N97 mini with firmware updated 27/7/10 v12.0.110. i am getting the ‘script alert: system service object cannot be found’ May be a daft question, but is this a widget to install on Home screen or an App? It doesn’t appear in my widget list, so assume it is an App. Thanks
